What is infertility ?
Infertility in women is the inability to conceive or the failure to carryout a full term of Pregnancy due to problems like miscarriages or perinatal loss, while infertility in men is seen as the inability for an individual to induce pregnancy.
Both males and females account for about 30% of the causes of infertility individually, while uncertain origins take up another 20% leaving the remainder being allocated to a combination of individual cause found in both male and female.
What are the signs of Infertility ?
Because of various factors, it is important for one to recognize infertility as soon as possible to ensure a safer pregnancy. Many people go through their daily lives without ever having any knowledge on whether the problem lies with their reproductive system, this might be due to the fact that the signs of infertility aren't always noticeable.
They are alot of signs that can be associated with infertility in women and one of the most common indicators are miscarriages, this happens when the fetus bursts within the womb and is unable to survive. In women the signs of infertility are more readily recognized as compared to men like for instance, when the linings of the uterus grow outside the uterus which may lead to a bacterial infection. This infection may begin to spread around the uterus and come into contact with other parts of the reproductive system and may result in infertility, the narrowing of the cervix which is caused by the growth of tumors may cause stenosis thus making it a strong indicator of infertility.
An irregularity in a menstrual cycle may be a clear indication that they might be problems with fertility for instance, Ovulating before the tenth day and after the twentieth day of ones monthly cycle as well as pre-menstrual spotting could indicate the luteal phase defect. However it should be noted that not all irregularities in a menstral cycle can be conclusive in itself, but it might definently be a sign.Other factors like hormonal imbalance affect the reproductive system in both men and women which may lead to a failed pregnancy, another indicator is body weight which is a big factor that is overlooked. If the woman does not have the right nutritional requirements this will hinder pregnancy because the nutrients will not be sufficient enough to support both the fetus and the individual.
The signs of infertility in males is more less the similar to that of females but with respect to the male reproductive system, damage to the scrotum and the testicles might be a reason of infertility.Alternatively things such as exposing the testicles to heat or wearing very tight garmets may lead to a lower prooduction of sperm, which can all together lead to the male beung unable to produce sperm in the long run.

The first step of treating and curing infertility largely depends on identifying the root cause in the beginning, because misdiagnosis can often lead to further fertility complications. It is important to determine these causes because they might be a multitude of factors or perhaps a single factor, below are some factors that may cause infertility in females.
Approximately 20% of the cause of infertility in women occur due to the malfunctioning of the hypothalamus, the gland that is responsible for controlling hormonal stimuli, resulting in immature eggs. The pituitary gland is responsible for the regulation of LH and FSH, when it malfunctions the result is the production of immature eggs as well.Women with polycystic ovaries suffer from a decrease in secretion of FSH and an increased secretion of LH and testosterone, therefore polycystic ovarian syndrome may lead to anovulation. The failure to ovulate maybe due to a number of factors and it is the most Common reason of infertility.Other factors like damaged ovaries caused by old/previous surgeries, ovarian cysts, tumors as well as hormonal imbalance may also lead to immature eggs like i stated earlier. Viral and Bacterial infections of the fallopian tube may cause them to function improperly, abdominal problems such as appendicits and colitis may cause blockages of the fallopian tube.Previous surgeries may render the tubes incapable of passing eggs and may also render tubal damage, although Congenital tubal defects are rare it may also come across as a cause of infertility.
The last factor is problems with the immune system, these may include autoimmune reactions in the body, like the creation of antisperm antibodies which exterminate sperms as well as natural killer cells which when in excess can damage the embryo in the uterus. The antinuclear antibodies cause inflamation of the uterus when in excess, antisperm antibodies in the womans body kills of sperm before fertilization can take place.
Methods of determing Infertility ?
There are many medical procedures that doctors usually prescribe that are used to help determine if a person is infertile or not , like you could either go for a Hysterosalpinyography or a Laparoscopy. In a Hysterosalpinyography,a dye is injected into the Vagina and is monitored to check for blockages in the Fallopian tubes or uterus. While Laparoscopy is used to check for physical problems that are present in the ovaries, fallopian tubes or in the uterus.
Although the causes of the infertility are many, they are fairly easy to overcome if they are addressed in a more holistic way by using a multifaceted method of getting healing like gettting regular checkups, regular exercise, abstinence from alcohol and other drugs, stress management to mention but a few. But these techniques are only part of the holistic solution to infertility, although it is a way to increase your chances of conception. It also guarantees a safer and healthier pregnancy.
